The Hidden Jewels of Tabogon

Hailed as the Queen City of the South, Cebu is truly a great place to wander and perhaps get lost to its natural beauty. With vast reserves of flora and fauna, it boast magnificent towns that offer exhilarating views that you’ll surely enjoy. Fact is, each provinces of Cebu has its own scenic spots for the adventurous souls like me and you. One of those provinces that seems unheard of yet praiseworthy is Tabogon.

Tabogon is a 3rd municipal income class community. Getting there by bus is an almost three hour drive at 86 pesos per way. Unless you have your own ride then you can cut the travel time by half! The town isn’t that develop as compared to Moalboal or Badian. But I am pretty sure it’s getting there! With that travel time, what should you expect in Tabogon?

Despite of its slow development, the town has something on its sleeves too! Indeed, there are places you can stroll which you haven’t heard of. There you can visit the Guiwanon Spring, Sea Turtle Resort, Salag’s Hanging Bridge, a public beach which I totally forgot the name, or simply mingle with the locals and enjoy eating in one of their canteens.

I actually visited all the places recommended by the locals. First was the spring, which I really enjoyed dipping myself into. Second was the Sea Turtle Resort, which was a bit far from the town proper. It’s an American inspired resort great for team buildings, couples, and families. They have AC rooms where you can spend your night and relax. Apart from that, the view is fantastic.

Lastly, I dropped by at Brgy. Salag to visit their hanging bridge and mangroves. Mind you, it took me almost 40 minutes by motorcycle just to reach the bridge. And the ride wasn’t smooth at all. But I really had fun! Of course, after that thrilling ride, I was in awe. It was my first time seeing and walking on a hanging bridge. And that pathway with mangroves on its side leading nowhere is amazing! I mean, you can’t see it in the city nowadays so it’s natural for me to praise that much. See it below:

Tabogon is indeed a contender in one of your go-to-list every summer. It might not have fancy restaurants and loud hip hop bars, the town has jewels hidden among its serene unspoiled mountains. That being said, the smiles of the locals and their generosities are more than enough to keep you going.

If you have plans going out of town, try to visit Tabogon and enjoy the ride!

Till then…

Up to my next adventure…
